Martinsville Race for NKP
Over Halloween weekend I was in Martinsville, Va shooting the NASCAR race for Nigel Kinrade Photography. The paperclip track is the shortest on the premier circuit and also the only track that has been continually used on the schedule since the inception of the sport in 1948. Earlier this month the speedway announced that they would be installing a $5 million dollar LED lighting package- making it the first sports arena to have full LED lighting. The weather was gorgeous all weekend with 70 degree temperatures for late October. The event marked the second time in as many seasons that Jeff Gordon would be starting his final race, and it was here last year that he scored his last career victory. Jimmie Johnson punched his ticket to the final round with the win in what could be his record-tying seventh championship campaign.
